Damage

As most of you probably know, Iowa has been flooding the whole month of June. We've had a hard time getting the hay in, but we really haven't been flooded because we farm in the hills. Last week there was a huge storm that blew in. We saw the cloud coming and finished mowing the lawn just in the nick of time. One minute it was sunny and the next there were 80 mph winds. It was just crazy. We were so glad to have a safe house to be in. Then we found out that just 6 miles North of us there was a mini tornado and 100 mph winds. I took pictures of some of the damage. It was crazy. We drove up to see the damage and were amazed that every house we came to had some sort of tree down. They either uprooted, or toppled over onto houses etc. One of the pictures is of 4 brand new grain bins. Never had crops in them. They are 100,000 bushel bins. The biggest you can get and look what the wind did to them. One guy we know lost his machine shed completely. The metal was scattered along the whole road and into the soy bean fields. We are truly blessed that our crop wasn't affected. I just feel sick when I see what the storm did to some peoples crops

Some buldings were just toppled into fields. Notice the top of the grain bin folded like a fan.

This is a before picture of what corn should look like.

I'm so glad you guys are alright. I've been watching the news and trying to track the weather and how close it was to you. It makes me so sad to see the crops like that - I feel for all of those farmers. Glad you guys are safe and your crops too!
