Unlike Sid and Dan's tree, this is how ours starts. I never thought I would have a fake tree, but the prices at Goodwill were so cheap and my husband is always too busy to go cut a real one down.

Of course Nolan's fish "stitch" get's his own tree and candy cane. For Halloween Nolan did a mini jack-o-lantern for him.
We've had the tradition of having Nolan's birthday tree every year. His birthday falls on December 19th, so to make it special, he's the only one with a birthday tree. Last year I figured he had grown out of it and he never mentioned it so it didn't get put up. This year he asked if he could have it again. I guess 10 is not too old for that kind of stuff.

You are so on the ball - look at all your posts! Loved reading them all. The house looks great - I'm so excited for you. I'm with you, I swore I would NEVER have a fake tree. We always had a real one growing up. I have a fake tree - I had to eat my words! What a great idea for Nolan, that would be hard to have a BDay so close to Christmas.
