Memorial Day

I don't ever remember going to Memorial Day services growing up, but out here they have one in every community. It's a big thing, and I definitely want my kids to grow up knowing what Memorial Day is and appreciating our fallen soldiers and the freedom we have in the U.S.A. This is our Memorial Day program in Malvern. They put over 400 flags up. People donate the flags when they are given them at funerals and a lady embroiders the name of the person and the war they served in. This is a picture I snapped as we walked to the ceremony. It brings tears to my eyes every year. Especially when they play Taps. They also have a 21 gun salute. What an awesome thing to witness. This year Gracie's Girl Scout troop got to participate and put flowers on the graves of fallen soldiers. I so appreciate the freedoms we have and the opportunity we have to celebrate Memorial Day.
